 About the Book

This new atlas uses the resources of 2-D and 3-D radiographic images, together with extensive sectioned cadaveric material, to help otolaryngologists and radiologists better visualize and understand the complicated anatomy of the paranasal sinuses. The authors take a three-pronged approach. Firstly, they address the problems presented by the myriad variations of normal and abnormal sinus anatomy by using a framework of embryology to describe step-by-step the development of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Through this, each end result can be accurately interpreted, no matter how idiosyncratic the anatomy. A large atlas section demonstrates neonatal anatomy in coronal, axial, and parasagittal planes.Secondly, adult sectioned anatomy in the three planes, as well as gross cadaver dissections, and dried skull dissections highlight the anatomic features of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Finally, 2-D CAT scan photographs and high resolution reconstructed 3-D images provide an excellent aid for understanding and interpreting anatomic nuances and variations. No other book on the market deals as effectively with the complicated anatomy of the paranasal sinuses.
